TYLER’S STORY

“Your Own Best Advocate”

Tyler is living the dream as a recent graduate of Southern Indiana University (D1), currently pursuing his Masters degree in Business. Tyler paved the path to ultimate success by leveraging basketball skill and academic excellence as an undergraduate. Now, he’s well positioned to tackle professional basketball opportunities next year.

When we met Tyler he was navigating a challenging coach relationship and really hoping to land at a program who understood his teaming style and skills profile. SA developed insight on Tyler as a person, then designed a recruitment plan that addressed both his skills and areas of development. Through detailed conversations with Tyler and his parents he solidified his voice and vision, making him compelling recruit for D1 programs. Fast-forward 3 years, and Tyler has outpaced his undergraduate goals and established himself a standout player and scholar among peers. Tyler is on his way to the top in whatever path he chooses.

DANIEL’S STORY

“Putting It All on the Line”

A stellar student with amazing basketball skills, Daniel always dreamed of playing for the NBA. The only thing standing between Daniel and his vision was…just about everything.

Daniel Ogoro was one of SA’s first international players. The game of basketball has largely globalized in the last decade, with some of the greatest players in the sport hailing from other countries. International players, however, have more hurdles to overcome before they can play on U.S. soil. Language and culture barriers, adjusting to new playing systems and staying on top of your game all while being thousands of miles away from the only family and home you know, really weighs on a young athlete. SA alleviated as many logistical hurdles as possible (everything from workout scheduling to Embassy appointments) while landing Daniel a spot on a team that could support his short and long term aspirations. Daniel has since graduated from Youngstown State University with honors and is currently pursuing his MBA at St Thomas University.

JALIYAH’S STORY

“The Breakout Star”

It is not only who you know, but who knows you that counts. This is especially true in the business of basketball recruiting, and couldn’t be more relevant for high school senior Jaliyah Weekes. Jaliyah is having one of the best seasons in recent Georgia history, as one of the most prolific scorers in the state. She’s an honor student who showcases technique and speed on the court, so naturally we were perplexed by the soft buzz surrounding Jaliyah’s story. We found it was a matter of awareness.

Once SA got to work on a strong marketing strategy, her visibility among coaches soared! The "rebranding" of Jaliyah, as well as intense conditioning sessions positioned Jaliyah as a top choice on many recruiting boards. We know the future is bright for (our) #2.
